When your mission-critical systems, processes, operations, and people rely on voice and data connections, it only makes sense to have the highest power solution available. High Power User Equipment (HPUE) is a specialized class of cellular device with up to 6x the uplink power of standard devices to keep you connected in more places. HPUE is especially helpful in rural, edge-of-network locations where connections may be spotty, or in dense urban environments where building materials block signals.
Nextivity HPUE products use our patented IntelliRange® Technology to create a reliable connection to the macro cellular network. That cellular signal is used by our Nextivity SHIELD MegaFi 2 and MegaGo 2 routers to create a Wi-Fi hot spot, maintaining connectivity where standard routers cannot.
Uplink power on standard devices is not as strong as the power of the signal coming from the tower, making it difficult to send communication when towers are far away.
In remote areas, especially where there are hills, valleys, trees, and other natural features, the landscape itself can interfere with signals.
Building shadows, garages, and other urban structures often create pockets of dead zones. Having to connect and reconnect can waste valuable time in an emergency.
Enabling teams and incident commanders to stay in contact in an emergency is fundamental to keeping everyone safe. The SHIELD MegaFi 2 turns every vehicle into a Wi-Fi hotspot, even in hard-to-reach places. When headed into rural areas, unfamiliar terrain, underground, or other places where cellular signals may be blocked, Nextivity HPUE routers significantly increase the chances of staying connected.
“Our warrant officer was called to help the Sheriff’s department in an arrest of a subject. The call was a domestic violence call and in route it was determined that the victim was being held hostage at gunpoint by the suspect. The area where the house was had low cell signal – however, we had our HPUE vehicle with the wireless router. I had made up QR Codes for quick access to the Wi-Fi username and password and within seconds, the responding officers had connected to the HPUE Wi-Fi system and were able to have network connection during the situation. The officers found it very helpful/useful.
I’m sure this isn’t the first time where this has come in useful for your other clients; however, it was pretty slick and we were glad we had it here.”
