The SHIELD MegaGo case includes our SHIELD MegaFi with patented HPUE technology, a custom-designed Band 14 integrated antenna, a rechargeable battery pack, and a Wi-Fi hot spot.
The SHIELD MegaGo case from Nextivity gives first responders and other field personnel the rapid deployment and portability they need to instantly access reliable on-scene FirstNet broadband communications.
Taking advantage of High Power User Equipment (HPUE) technology, which only Nextivity is allowed to implement on FirstNet, the SHIELD MegaGo delivers a signal that reaches farther and is more reliable in more places than standard equipment.
With 6x the power, critical communications – including voice, data, and video – are easier to transmit to and from a scene.
High Power User Equipment (HPUE) is a special class of user equipment (devices) for the LTE cellular network that increase device transmission power by six times (6x). This power increase translates to significant connectivity improvements in terms of range, coverage area, and uplink speeds.
The SHIELD MegaGo case allows first responders and essential works to bring the industry-leading FirstNet Band 14 performance that HPUE systems deliver with them wherever they go. Through the increased uplink power, the portable MegaGo unit ensures reliable critical connectivity that helps keep people safe.

Is the Nextivity MegaGo difficult to operate?
Nope. One button operation (On/Off) is all that is required. The MegaGo has been preprogrammed to automatically connect to FirstNet. The network automatically selects the LTE band and tells the MegaGo to activate MegaRange power as required. The SSID and password for Wi-Fi operation are written on the inside of the case.
Should the Nextivity MegaGo be operated with the case open or closed?
The MegaGo case should be operated with the case closed. This protects the internal circuits from the elements. The built-in antennas are oriented so that they provide best performance when the lid is closed and the MegaGo case is placed flat on any surface.
Does the MegaGo require external antennas?
Nope. The MegaGo case has a high-performance antenna array mounted in the case lid. This includes a high-performance antenna for MegaRange operation on Band 14.
How do I know how much battery charge is left?
The MegaRange case includes a digital display with the percentage of charge left in the battery. The battery typically powers the MegaGo for 12-14 hours in normal operating conditions.
How long does it take to fully recharge the MegaGo battery?
Recharging a fully discharged MegaGo battery typically takes six hours from the ac/dc adapter included with the case. Our tests show that following a full charge, the battery can retain the charge for about one month if not used.
Can I operate the MegaGo while recharging the battery?
Yes. The MegaGo can be used while charging as long as the battery is above 20% capacity.
Firmware
As part of our ongoing commitment to serve our customers, please see below important information about the software contained on your Nextivity Shield MegaRange device including the AW12 and the MegaFi.

Outbound and Inbound connections from and to your device
The following outbound and inbound connections are made from and/or to the device:
Outbound Connections from your device:
HTTPS to cloud
(TCP, port 443)
For modem data
DNS queries to Google
(UDP, port 53)
For domain resolution
NTP queries to https://ntp.org/
(UDP, port 23)
For network time for clock)
GPS information, in NMEA/TAIP formats, is available to be transmitted outbound, but requires enablement and requires configuring both the port and protocol. GPS outbound transmissions are OFF by default.
Inbound connections to your device:
DHCP
(UDP port 67)
DNS
(UDP port 53)
HTTP
(TCP port 80, redirect to HTTPS)
HTTPS
(TCP port 53)
SSH is also available as an inbound connection. SSH inbound traffic is rejected (and is OFF) by default and must be enabled prior to use.
Security Patches Commitment
As part of our ongoing commitment to security, Nextivity will continue to provide security updates for the model of the device for a period of 1 year after the last date that model is sold.
Software General Support Information
Nextivity has a long standing policy of not charging for software used in its hardware. Therefore, there are currently no license fees or other fees required to use of the Mission Control software for your Shield MegaFi and AW12 devices. Should that change, Nextivity will provide 90 days’ notice of any change in its current pricing structure.
Also, Nextivity, should it be necessary to do so, will provide an end-of-life notice for the AW12 and MegaFi products 45 days prior to the date at which those products will no longer be sold. We will notify you based on the latest email registered with us based on your acceptance of the End User License Agreement when you logged into your device. Please note that software patches and security support will be available for only one year after the date the model was last sold by Nextivity.
Nextivity engineers our solutions from the ground up to ensure your project is hassle-free. From spec to design to installation and maintenance, we’ve thought of everything. Our customers are amazed how quickly we are in and out.

Nextivity SHIELD MegaFi routers are considered a Power Class 1 (PC1) device and are authorized for UP TO 1.25W, compared to traditional devices that are Power Class 3 that can reach up to 0.2W. Wattage may vary based on network variables and Band 14 availability. As of 2/15/2024, MegaFi is currently the only router in the United States classified as PC1.
