Nextivity Inc. today announced that its CEL-FI Smart Signal Booster received the Most Innovative New Product (MIP) Award in the Hardware and General Technology category at the 2013 CONNECT MIP Awards ceremony held on December 6th
SAN DIEGO – December 10, 2013 – Nextivity Inc. today announced that its CEL-FI Smart Signal Booster received the Most Innovative New Product (MIP) Award in the Hardware and General Technology category at the 2013 CONNECT MIP Awards ceremony held on December 6th. In its 26th year, the annual awards program continues its tradition of honoring San Diego’s leaders of innovation and groundbreaking new products launched in the last year.
“We are incredibly proud that CEL-FI has received San Diego’s most prestigious honor for innovation,” says Werner Sievers, CEO of Nextivity. “The award is testament to the exceptional design and world-class engineering that goes into developing the world’s only all-digital, one hundred percent wireless smart signal booster. Our team continues to push the boundaries in design excellence, ensuring CEL-FI meets the stringent testing criteria laid out by carriers worldwide to solve indoor coverage issues for wireless subscribers.”
CEL-FI is the first of a new generation of carrier-grade, consumer-friendly signal boosters that maximize a user’s indoor wireless experience by eliminating in-building dead zones. It has more than 1,000 times the gain of traditional signal boosters. CEL-FI can more than quadruple wireless data speeds and eliminate dropped calls for wireless subscribers in their homes or offices by boosting signal strength from one bar to five bars. CEL-FI relies on intelligent, self-organizing algorithms to maximize the area of coverage for users and ensure it does not compromise or interfere with carrier networks or impede other subscribers’ signals. CEL-FI is the only consumer cell phone signal booster authorized by 138 leading global carriers (including AT&T and T-Mobile) in 66 countries, together with the communications commissions in Australia and the United Kingdom.
“We live in an ever-connected culture, and as the number of mobile devices continues to grow, technology such as CEL-FI will become crucial to ensuring our mobile devices remain connected, even indoors,” said Tyler Orion, interim president of CONNECT. “We awarded the MIP Award for hardware and general technology to Nextivity because we expect the company’s technology to have a wide-reaching, positive impact on our ability to communicate with each other.”
Held this year at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines Hotel, the annual MIP Awards is CONNECT’s largest and most prestigious event, attracting more than 700 of the region’s top business leaders, researchers and capital providers. 100 San Diego-based companies competed in the rigorous, four-month judging process, with a total of only nine winners awarded in categories including: Aerospace and Security Technologies, Communications and IT, Hardware and General Technology, Life Sciences-Diagnostics and Research Tools, Life Sciences-Medical Products, Mobile Apps, Software, Sport & Active Lifestyle Technologies and Sustainability.
