Hybrid in-building cellular solution offers installers and integrators a “smart” approach to coverage for the SME space
Nextivity Inc. today announced that the CEL-FI QUATRA in-building enterprise cellular system has won the 2017 Commercial Integrator BEST award, taking the top prize in its category. The annual awards recognize products and services that have a positive impact on commercial integrators’ businesses. Recipients are selected by a panel of industry experts, integrators, and editors of Commercial Integrator.
Launched in September 2016, CEL-FI QUATRA is an active DAS hybrid that is scalable, cost-efficient, and delivers high-quality, in-building cellular coverage in venues up to 200,000 sq. ft. As a hybrid solution, it combines the best of active DAS and widely adopted CEL-FI technologies.
CEL-FI QUATRA operates in off-air mode, or it can be integrated with carrier small cell equipment and operated in distributed small cell mode to create a Supercell™. A Supercell (i.e., a large single cell versus multiple independent small cells) provides uniform access to the capacity introduced by the small cell to improve cellular coverage in larger or densely populated areas. Supercells are inherently uncomplicated from a planning and deployment point of view, and are far more resilient to the potential of interference or performance degradation considerations.

Since it doesn’t require fiber or complex RF surveys and design, and is also self-configuring and self-optimizing, CEL-FI QUATRA is much more efficient and more cost-effective to install than other solutions in the market.
