CEL-FI QUATRA RED is the first all-in-one, Class A / B, 700 / 800 MHz LMR and FirstNet Solution for any US jurisdiction.
Nextivity Inc. announced today that its CEL-FI QUATRA RED in-building public safety Emergency Responder Communications Enhancement System (ERCES) is available for partners in the U.S. market. CEL-FI QUATRA RED – which uses the same underlying technology as Nextivity’s award-winning, all-digital, carrier-grade CEL-FI QUATRA suite of products – delivers in-building coverage to Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems and FirstNet-ready devices. The solution will be showcased via Webinar on August 26th at 11 am PT / 2 pm Et as part of the International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) virtual series.
“This has been a three-year journey for Nextivity,” says Werner Sievers, CEO of Nextivity. “Our goal was to use our disruptive technology platform to build the best communications solution for public safety professionals. With significant input from integrators and the public safety community, we applied our market-leading CEL-FI technology that has changed the booster and DAS industry to improve and drive innovation in the public safety communications ecosystem.”
The first all-in-one, in-building public safety solution, CEL-FI QUATRA RED makes it easier for integrators to implement and quickly install communications solutions for the public safety market. QUATRA RED variants include Class A and Class B devices with 56 and 28 channels respectively, which can be shared between 700 or 800 MHz. Unlike older analog public safety BDA technology, QUATRA RED delivers an all-digital cellular signal that is up to 1,000 times stronger, using category cabling for RF-over-Ethernet (RFoE) and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), with no signal attenuation right to the perimeter of the building and without requiring a battery back-up unit with each remote unit. Unique features like automated commissioning, isolation, and calibration of the uplink/downlink also simplify installation. The future-proof system includes FirstNet bands 2,4, 12, and 14 right out of the box.
- Key Features Include:
- 1W to 6W
- Deploy like BDA or DAS
- Class A with 56 fully-configurable channels
- Class B with 28 bandwidth selective channels
- 700/800 MHz for Public Safety with dedicated FirstNet Bands 14, 12, 4, and 2
- Automatic isolation measurement and set
- Automatic uplink / downlink calculation and set
- Talk-out guarantee that meets rigorous AHJ testing protocols
- Built-in real-time remote monitoring (wired and wireless)
- Microprocessor controlled AGC per time-slot to minimize near-far effect
- Uplink quelch
Key CEL-FI QUATRA RED Components Include:
- Network Unit (NU)

- Remote Emergency Power Off Switch (EPO)
- Monitoring and Battery Backup Unit (MBBU) for 12- or 24-hour battery backup
- Remote Annunciator Panel (RAP)
- Donor and Server Antennas
Like Nextivity’s existing suite of CEL-FI QUATRA products, which have seen significant adoption by integrators and operators, CEL-FI QUATRA RED can be installed in just days (compared to weeks typical of other solutions) and ensures that the Certificate of Occupancy is delivered as quickly as possible. QUATRA RED is UL 2524 compliant, NFPA / IFC compliant, and all components are NEMA4 rated.
The CEL-FI QUATRA RED Class A product will be available to new partners nationwide at the end of September 2020; the Class B product will be available at the end of November 2020.
