Nextivity Adds Fiber Connectivity for Campus and Enterprise Environments
Nextivity today announced the expansion to its CEL-FI QUATRA enterprise cellular coverage solutions, with the introduction of the CEL-FI QUATRA 4000 Fiber HUB (Fiber HUB). The CEL-FI QUATRA 4000 is a multi-carrier, hybrid active Distributed Antenna System (DAS) that provides uniform in-building cellular coverage to large commercial buildings. The Fiber HUB expands cellular coverage in QUATRA 4000 deployments in enterprise locations, by distributing the donor signal via optical fiber from one building or location to the next. Nextivity will be showcasing CEL-FI QUATRA 4000 Fiber HUB at GSMA Thrive Mobile World Congress Americas and Realcom iBcon Virtual Events.
The Fiber HUB uses fiber connectivity from the master Network Unit (NU) of the CEL-FI QUATRA 4000 (the headend of the system) to the Fiber HUB, which can be installed up to 1.24 miles (2 kilometers) away. The master NU receives the donor signal off-air from outdoor antennas or from operator small cells and transmits the signal over fiber to the Fiber HUB with up to 100 dB gain and no signal loss. The master NU and the Fiber HUB provide uniform cellular coverage for all major carriers in spaces up to 150,000 square feet per NU/Fiber HUB. Multiple NUs and Fiber HUBs can be installed in a facility.
The Fiber HUB is especially useful in high rise buildings; for a multi-unit campus where one building is on the fringe of macro cellular signal coverage and the other buildings in the compound receive no outdoor signal at all; and in remote locations where there is no cellular signal, such as a coal mine or a data center carved into the side of a mountain.
The Fiber HUB is commissioned and can be managed remotely through the CEL-FI WAVE cloud-based software platform and mobile app, which is another key tool provided to Nextivity partners to help increase deployment efficiency, reduce installation time, and provide better customer support.
Key features include:
- Coverage up to 150,000 sq. ft. per NU or Fiber HUB
- Single donor source transmitted over fiber
- OS2 Single Mode Fiber NU and Hub
- FCC certified
“We are continually expanding our product line, incorporating the feedback from our partners. Fiber connectivity has been a product request for the CEL-FI QUATRA line for customers that were looking to go bigger or reach those areas that seemed impossible to economically expand signal capability. The CEL-FI QUATRA 4000 Fiber HUB offers partners a new level of flexibility to tackle coverage issues in enterprise and even remote spaces, with all the benefits and scalability that the CEL-FI QUATRA 4000 system offers,” said Werner Sievers, CEO of Nextivity. “Our partners can now deploy solutions in significantly larger facilities with QUATRA 4000, and our new Fiber HUB.”
Availability
The CEL-FI QUATRA 4000 Fiber HUB is available in the U.S. via distribution partners and can be used with the CEL-FI QUATRA 4000 / 4000i. More information can be found at: cel-fi.com/quatra4000.
