Industry’s only carrier-specific booster now formally approved for use by AT&T subscribers.
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – April 8, 2014 – Nextivity Inc. today announced that its CEL-FI Smart Signal booster for the AT&T network has now been certified by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). CEL-FI is the only provider-specific booster that complies with the new Part 20 Rules outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations guiding the use of consumer boosters on licensed spectrum.
“The new FCC consumer booster guidelines represent a significant milestone in protecting carriers and their customers,” says Werner Sievers, CEO of Nextivity. “With this latest FCC certification in place, AT&T subscribers have peace of mind when using the industry’s only plug and play, all-digital, 100% wireless, provider specific smart signal booster.”
The new FCC Part 20 Rules, which come into effect on April 30, 2014, address both carrier-specific boosters and wideband boosters. Provider–specific signal boosters like CEL-FI are designed to work on a specific carrier’s network. As such, the FCC permits higher system gains of up to 100dB.
Analog wideband boosters on the other hand, operate on multiple frequencies and carrier networks. To minimize the risk of interference on carrier spectrum, the FCC has capped system gain limits for analog boosters at 70dB (for 700Mhz) and 72dB (for 1.7/2.1Ghz). That means provider–specific boosters such as CEL-FI offer 1,000 times the gain of analog boosters and a much wider area of coverage (up to 13,000 sq. ft.) within a building.
Touted as insanely simple to install, CEL-FI smart signal boosters offer the most advanced technology in this market to deliver greater signal coverage, fewer dropped calls, higher call quality and faster data speeds. As a wireless solution, CEL-FI does not require any cables or antennas, and can be installed in minutes.
