Why you Might Need Cellular Coverage to Find a Parking Spot

Members of the Nextivity family are always on the lookout for good technology stories, even when they’re on vacation. Here’s one I wanted to share with you that was presented to us by one of the folks on our team when he returned from a trip to Spain. He came across a company called EasyPark, which he described as a “futuristic-parking” company.

So what does the company do that’s so special? They have some incredible parking management solutions for challenging markets – something those of us living in a city know all about. The solution features a mobile app that benefits both drivers and parking personnel. For example, it lets drivers know where there’s an empty parking spot, the distance they have to go to reach it, and how long they can park there. Security personnel can also use it on their mobile devices to monitor vehicles for attributes such as make, model, color, and license plate and check on their parking status.

From our perspective, this is a great example of an innovative solution that requires consistent cellular coverage. If there’s no cellular service, the solution stops working. And we all know that parking lots are notorious for cellular dead zones. Needless to say, it’s a perfect application for CEL-FI since Wi-Fi is rarely used in parking facilities. Plus, we’ve already proven our Smart Signal Booster®’s worth in parking applications.

Have you used a mobile parking app? What feature did you love most about it?
