Homebuyers Thinking Twice when Cellular Coverage Doesn’t Make the Grade

A recent UK-poll by Rootmetrics came out with a surprising result: Of the more than 2,000 adults between the ages of 18 and 35 surveyed, 45% said they would have second thoughts about buying a property if the cellular signal was weak in the area.

That easily topped crime levels in the neighborhood (21%), transport links (18%), and schools (17%) as key factors people consider when buying a home.

Only 26% of people 55 or older had the same concerns about cellular coverage when buying a new home, although 40% of those said they would switch networks in their current homes if they couldn’t rely on the signal they have.

Last but not least, 9 out of 10 (87%) of respondents considered poor reception as their biggest home pet peeve.

So real estate agents (and service providers) need to take note. Cellular coverage is as much a part of the selling proposition as the number of bedrooms and bathrooms. The advice given in the article is to make checking mobile phone signals a routine action for potential buyers.

But we can go one better than that piece of advice. We can help solve the issue with a CEL-FI smart signal booster, and chances are the concerns of those doubting home buyers (or disgruntled homeowners) will be laid to rest. It’s a small price to pay to ensure a happy home life.

Have you had signal challenges in your new home? Tell us your story. Maybe we’ll feature you in an upcoming blog post.
