New ARES Baseband Processor Boosts CEL-FI Versatility and Coverage

Blog

This week is big news for Nextivity. We’ve just launched a new third-generation baseband processor (a.k.a. ARES) that will be used in future CEL-FI smart signal boosters.

What does that mean? It means we can roll out an even bigger family of smart signal booster products that meet carrier, customer and FCC requirements for indoor coverage.

Perhaps the biggest plus is that ARES supports LTE devices on LTE networks (i.e. it now enables automatic configuration for HSPA+ and LTE). It also increases the amount of bandwidth operators can boost so they can improve indoor service coverage. ARES is VoLTE-ready (Voice Over LTE), and will solve the problem of dropped calls, and improve high-speed data rates.

Nextivity is one of the select few fabless companies that designs custom-made baseband processors from the ground up. And of course, we are very proud of ARES. Our new processor has four times (yes, four) the computing power of the previous generation, and is packed with six massive RISC cores (yes, that’s three times more than the new iPhone processor). In a nutshell we’re talking about double the transistors, built-in intelligence, flexibility and power. Not to mention full integration capabilities with carrier networks.

So the self-configuring, environmentally aware booster systems (we offer the only ones in the world by the way) which we launch next year featuring the ARES processor, will be even more powerful in bringing reliable indoor cellular coverage to your home or office.

If you’re wondering how our incredibly talented design and engineering team is taking the indoor coverage market to new heights, just ask and we can fill you in on the details.
